The Western Berks Fire Department is seeking applicants for multiple positions of Career Firefighter to join our dynamic and dedicated fire department. The WBFD is intending to hire individuals who have the drive to excel and the desire to have a positive impact on the community they serve.
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
-IFSAC/Proboard Firefighter II
-PA DOH/National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (preferred)
-AHA Healthcare Provider CPR with AED
-Emergency Vehicle Operators Course
-Pump I/Pump II
-Hazardous Materials Operations
-PA DOH Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician
-Firefighter Survival
-NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
Required within 12 months of hire:
-PA DOH/National Registry Emergency Medical Technician
Additional Requirements:
-21 years of age
-HS diploma or equivalent
-Valid driver’s license
Benefits Package
-2027 Salary – $55,411.29 (prob.) / $69,160 (non-prob.)
-Overtime at 1.5× / Comp Time Option
-Longevity Pay after 5 years
-48 hours annually for paid training
-3 personal days
-10 vacation days after 1st year
-9 paid holidays

-457 Plan – up to 6% employer match

Schedule
-Monday – Friday
-40-hour work week
