Accident in South Heidelberg Twp

MVA in South Heidelberg Twp

 May 29, 2020

On Friday May 29th around 7:20am the Western Berks Fire Department was dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries and possible fire on Shire Lane in South Heidelberg Township.  Engine 18-1 arrived on scene and confirmed a two vehicle accident with a sedan vs. a pick up truck, however negative fire.  Crew members from Engine 18-1 mitigated fluids and removed debris from the roadway.  Spitters Towing removed two vehicles from the scene and Engine 18-1 cleared the scene in approximately in 45 minutes.

Hint - this does not include human weight, just all of the protective gear and tools you see in the picture which includes; coat, pants, helmet, boots, gloves, hood, breathing apparatus, and various hand tools.

This morning shortly after 1:15am Engine 18-2 was dispatched to assist Cumru Township Fire Department with a residential structure fire in the 400 block of Wyomissing Road, in Cumru Township. Engine 18-2 arrived on scene and crews assisted with fire suppression, overhaul, and ventilation in the structure. On January 15, at approximately 1:12pm, Engine 18-2 was dispatched as automatic aid to assist the Township of Spring Fire Rescue Services for an accident with one person still trapped in the vehicle at the intersection of Fritztown & Chapel Hill Roads. Hydraulic rescue tools were utilized to remove both the front and rear doors on the drivers side, and also the center support post. Once the patient was extricated and removed from the vehicle, Western Berks Ambulance Association started patient care and transported for further evaluation.
