FC18 duty vehicle

Fire Commissioner Duty Vehicle

The FC 18 vehicle is a 2019 Ford F-150 4x4 crew cab pick up truck with a rear cap and bed slide.  This vehicle is used by the Fire Commissioner for daily operations of the department as well as responding to emergency incidents.  This unit was purchased in 2019 to replace the current aging department duty vehicles.  This unit is part of “identical triplets” which were ordered by the department, with the others being Deputy Chief duty vehicles.

Engine 18-1 is a 2004 Pierce Dash with a 1500 gpm pump with a Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS). It carries 1000 feet of 5" supply hose, several hundred feet of initial attack lines and a variety of hand tools. It is capable of delivering 5 fully equipped firefighters to the emergency scene.

Engine 18-2

Engine 18-2 is a 1999 refurbished Pierce with a 750 gallon tank and a 1250 gpm pump. It is capable of delivering 6 fully equipped firefighters to the emergency scene. This unit was originally a 1985 Seagrave (picture shown in the additional details portion).

Rescue Engine 18

Rescue Engine 18 is a 2001 KME 4-wheel drive with a seating capacity for 6 firefighters, a 1500 gpm pump, carries 1000 gallons of water and 35 gallons of foam. This engine also has two complete sets of Holmatro rescue tools.

Engine 18-4

Engine 18-4 is a 1994 Pierce Dash with seating for 6 firefighters, a 1250 gpm pump and carries 1000 gallons of water. This engine has 300 ft of 3 inch and 1500 ft of 5 inch supply hose, and has 4 preconnected attack lines. Engine 18-4 also carries cribbing for vehicle stabilization and a Holmatro combi tool for rescue operations. More pictures can be found in the Additional Details link.

Ladder 18

Ladder 18 is a 2016 Pierce Velocity 105' Aerial with a 500 gallon tank and a 2000 gpm pump with CAFs. It carries 196 feet of ground ladders, 500 feet of 5" supply hose and over 1000 feet of initial attack lines. It is capable of delivering 8 fully equipped firefighters to the emergency scene.

Rescue 18 is a 1994 Pierce Lance. It carries a wide variety of rescue tools including a full complement of Hurst extrication equipment. It is capable of delivering 8 fully equipped firefighters to the emergency scene. It also has a 6 bank, 6000 psi cascade system used to fill depleted air cylinders.

Tanker 18

Tanker 18 is a 1998 Freightliner / 4 Guys tanker. It has a 450 gpm volume pump and carries 3000 gallons of water. Tanker 18 has two 3000 gallon portable tanks, hose on this unit consists of 200 feet of 1 3/4 inch attack line and 400 feet of 3 inch supply line. Tanker 18 has 3 ten inch quick dumps.

Utility 18-2 is a 2008 Ford F550 with a KME custom utility body. This piece of apparatus, which was purchased in April of 2008, carries various types of equipment including portable pumps, generators, oil dry, spill confinement materials and other miscellaneous equipment.

Marine 18

Marine 18 is a 2003 Rescue One Connector boat. This unit is equipped with a 40hp Jet Powered outboard motor. The boat also has a flip down diver platform to assist divers entering or exiting the water and a sonar system equipped with GPS. Other equipment includes 2 throw rope bags,2 Telescopic hooks,1 backboard and a 500,000 candlepower search light and 1 Bull horn.

Marine 18-2 is a 2021 Inmar 12.5’ inflatable rescue boat. This unit is equipped with a 25hp outboard prop motor.  This unit is housed at station 18-2 in Sinking Spring and is towed by Utility 18-2.

ATV 18-4 is a 2001 Honda ATV with a small water tank and pump, along with small hand tools for brush fires. The trailer which transports the ATV is also capable of being towed by the ATV and has been used for victim removal from remote areas.

Brush 18-4 is a 1952 Willys Jeep which was refurbished and placed in service in 2013. This unit was previously owned by the Lower Heidelberg Township Fire Co. and sold to a private collector a number of years ago. In 2012, the collector sold the unit back to the Western Berks Fire Department. More pictures are available under the Additional Details link.

This 1958 Seagrave was once owned by the Liberty Fire Co. of Sinking Spring. It is now located in a museum in Germany.

Western Berks Fire Department

On January 24, 2023 the WBFD was dispatched as automatic aid to assist the Robesonia Fire Department, Sta 26 with a residential structure fire in the 1st Block of S Wayne St in Robesonia Borough. Initial arriving crews found a fire located on the first floor, on the exterior of the home rapidly progressing towards the roof line. Personnel from WBFD and Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company 47 / Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary were assigned to check for extension on the first floor, by using hand tools to remove drywall and insulation, assuring that no hidden fire remained.
