The Western Berks Fire Department would like to congratulate the members who successfully participated in and completed our most recent promotional testing process. Seven members received line officer appointments which took effect January 1, 2017.

❄❄ WINTER WEATHER UPDATE ❄❄ Winter weather is expected to impact our area the next few days. This eveing expect snow o start to fall and will wrap up before the morning commute. Snow totals are expected to be 1-2". Please exercise caution tomorrow as driving conditions will be hazardous. Make sure to account for extra travel time tomorrow as well as increased distance from vehicles. A signifigant winter storm is expected to arrive Monday evening and last throughout the day on Tuesday. Signifgant snowfall is expected. The storm is expected to start a snow and change over to sleet/freezing rain and then rain. 4-6" of snow is forcasted. The WBFD just returned from handeling a commercial fire alarm at Stereo Barn, in Lower Heidelberg Township. Ladder 18, Engine 18-1 and Engine 85, from Township of Spring Fire Rescue Services, were dispatched. Crews investigated and found no cause for the alarm activation. At 11:15pm Friday night, the WBFD along with Engine 26 from Pioneer Hose Company #1 Station 26 Of Robesonia PA, were dispatched to the 200 block of East Penn Ave, Wernersville Borough, for a HAZMAT. Crews arrived on scene and investigated a gas odor that was reported in the area and inside a residence. We metered residences with no readings found.
